Anne Marie Hamill RTE’s Open House 2011
Interior design is Anne-Marie’s second career – she worked for almost ten years in nursing.
Anne-Marie thinks she first got the feel for doing something creative when she took a year out to live in New York in 1998 – visiting many furniture exhibitions, museums and antique shops, and taking classes in oil painting and pottery, prompted her to study for a diploma in Interior Architecture upon her return to Ireland.
Six months into her diploma she started working on a consultation level, and has been specializing in residential design ever since.
Originally from Mayo she now lives and works with her two children in Co. Louth.
At the moment she is currently working on an interior design section for the Navan Weekender Newspaper, and writes occasionally for the House and Home supplement of the Drogheda Independent, and has also taught an introductory evening class to interior design in Rathfarnham and Lucan Community College.
As well as many residential projects for private clients, Anne-Marie has recently completed commercial interiors fit-outs for the Castle Inn pub in Ardee, and Mizu beauty salon in Dundalk to name just a couple.
When it comes to residential design, Anne-Marie always pays particular attention to dressing of beds and the layering of fabrics, and if asked to describe her style Anne-Marie would say “an eclectic mixture of classical quality and richness”.
